Bingo is a great song to teach your child spelling and the basic rhythm ta ta ti-ti ta.
The earliest reference to the original song and sheet music was published in London in 1780, which attributed William Swords as the songwriter.
An early transcription of the song dates from the 1785 songbook, “The Humming Bird,” a collection of songs for children.
The original version of the song was titled “The Farmer’s Dog Leapt O’er the Stile.” Over the years, the title and lyrics of the song have continuously changed through each recording.
